To visit the Cafe DeMenil is to step into the tranquility of a bygone era.  The Cafe resides in the original Carriage House on the grounds of the Historic Chatillion-DeMenil Mansion.  The Mansion serves as a Museum resplendent in Victorian furnishings and her Staff abundant in historical knowledge of the original owners lives.

The Mansion is unique for its architectural and historic importance in St. Louis and the Cafe's staff revels in the joy of its rich heritage which they use in their daily "American Fare" menu.  Emphasis is placed on the melting pot of ethnic backgrounds of the people that lived on the grounds and the menu reflects their tastes.

The Cafe serves lunch from 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM, Tuesday-Saturday.  The Chefs provide our guests with Daily Specials: you might enjoy Seafood Newburg one day and Grilled Ahi Tuna the next.  Visitors are given the option of eating as light or as heartily as they choose.  Our menu provides a "lighter fare" in which the guest may select from Soup, Salad or Half Sandwich combinations as well as full meals such as a Cider Mill Pork Chop resting on Cranberry Risotto Cakes drizzled with Creamed Leek Sauce and served with a daily vegetable selection or perhaps they fancy our Drunken Chicken which is a marinated Chicken Breast that's sautéed and placed over Apricot Barley and topped with a Port Wine Sauce and a specialty vegetable.

Whatever the occasion, office getaway, breakout seminar, friendly lunch or baby shower, our staff endeavors to make your experience enjoyable, relaxing and a pleasant memory.

In the evening our grounds are reserved for private events.  We reserve the grounds for one event per evening.  Corporate Dinners, Reunions, Anniversary Celebrations or Weddings.  Each event is unique and each menu is created specifically for that event.  Our party planners work with our clients to develop an evening that suites their tastes and their budget.

Many of our Wedding couples choose to be married on our grounds in the Historic Gazebo surrounded by beautiful greenery and park-like scenery.  The acre and a half of gardens act as a perfect backdrop to our magnificent 1861 Greek Revival Mansion.  The bridal suite offer our brides the perfect option of dressing in privacy and the convenience of being only steps away from their walk down the aisle.  While the Mansion is open during the weekdays and give hourly tours, the evening is reserved expressly for the private event guests.  Victorian clad docents greet the evening guests and eloquently tell stories of the family and the furnishings that surround them.

Visit our Cafe and Mansion and uncover one of St. Louis' best kept secrets.
